MWC19 is the largest mobile event in the world. It is where the latest leading-edge technologies and innovations come together, with a highly-rated conference programme assembling today’s visionaries to explore the hottest topics influencing the industry. The Diameter Routing Software team joins the congress, ready to help you answer your biggest mobile security and road to 5G challenges.

Does your first generation DRA need an upgrade?

Since LTE Networks went live in 2010 and the introduction of Diameter Signalling came with it, there became a need for a Routing function to control this. Diameter Routing Agents were responsible from the beginning to forward and control the packets in the mobile core network. With the evolution and introduction of new innovative services in LTE throughout the years, the role and functionality of the DRA has changed a lot. Instead of having a sole routing functionality, the DRA should be able to:

  • Perform interworking with legacy and IT protocols such as SS7, Radius, HTTP, ENUM, …
  • Implement security rules according to the GSMA standards (FS.19)
  • Control and prioritise each diameter application
  • Manipulate advanced messaging.

Today, many operators have a first generation DRA live in their network, which is lacking any of these functionalities while running on dedicated hardware. In some cases, the DRA is also End of Sales and will become End of Support in the future.
